2024 ABC Resident Travel Award Recipient

The Orthotics and Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research (The O&P Foundation) along with its affiliate The American Board for Certification (ABC), is proud to announce the 2024 recipient of the ABC Resident Travel Award. This award supports prosthetics and orthotics resident’s travel to the American Academy of Orthotics Prosthetists Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium so that they may present results of their National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) Directed Study. This award is supported by a generous donation from ABC.

Jessica Smit, CPO

Jessica Smit is a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. She received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State University followed by her Master’s in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Eastern Michigan University in 2020. Jessica completed her orthotics residency at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago from 2020-2021. Jessica then went on to complete her prosthetics residency with the research track at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago from 2022-2023 where she now continues to work as a clinician.
