Why did you apply?
I applied to the OPERF student award to support my attendance at O&P conferences as I had presented
prior and wanted to keep engaging with the community in this way.
How did the funding help you meet your goals?
The OPERF student award helped me to attend future conferences and offset living expenses while in my
Master’s program.
How did the funding impact your career?
Having the opportunity to attend conferences as a student is a wonderful chance to network and
understand the field in a different way beyond day-to-day clinical interactions. It helped me grasp the larger
world of O&P and where I might be able to contribute best. Being an active member of the O&P community
by attending our conferences has shaped my career trajectory in a meaningful and positive way.n orthotics and prosthetics.
What did the funding mean to you personally?
To be recognized as a student was an honor and was a way to help distinguish myself in the residency
application process. To receive support from the field increased my commitment to improving O&P.
