The O&P Foundation is honored to announce the recipient of the 2024 Carlton Fillauer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Prosthetics Science and Practice, sponsored by the Fillauer Companies Inc.
This prestigious award recognizes a clinician’s contributions in clinical care, scientific research, and peer-reviewed publication in the area of prosthetics in the O&P profession.
The Carlton Fillauer Award will be presented at the 2024 American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium.
Kate Allyn LCPO, FAAOP
Kate is a Washington state licensed and ABC orthotist and prosthetist, clinician, researcher, fellow, and past president of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists. She completed her orthotic and prosthetic education at Northwestern University and residency in orthotics at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, OH. In clinical practice at Northwest P&O Clinic, Seattle, WA she specialized in dysvascular populations, rehab, and traumatic lower limb prosthetics. As a consulting research prosthetist/orthotist, at the University of Washington Rehabilitation Medicine and Bioengineering departments, she continues to work on various federal grants on auto-socket technology, prostheses monitoring, and frontal plane adaptability in a prosthetic foot. She has focused on the translation of research findings into clinically interesting and meaningful evidence to improve the quality-of-care clinicians deliver and increase the efficiency and success of clinical practice to enhance whole person performance. The collaboration with clinicians, universities, manufacturers and prosthesis users is her favorite aspect of the prosthetic profession!
