Ken Chagnon Scholarship
The O&P Foundation has partnered with the American Academy of Orthostists and Prosthetists (the Academy) to award the Ken Chagnon Scholarship, which supports individuals who are pursuing an education in orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) through an O&P technician program. Ken Chagnon Scholarships include a $500 cash award. Up to one Ken Chagnon Scholarship is given annually to a deserving O&P technician program student.
About Ken Chagnon
The Ken Chagnon Scholarship was established to pay tribute to Ken Chagnon, BS, CPO, an orthotic and prosthetic educational pioneer, by supporting the educational goals of highly motivated O&P technician students.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited O&P technician program and meet all of the the following criteria:
Demonstrate a financial need
Display leadership qualities
Contribute to their own education financially
Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0
How to Apply
Students may apply directly for the scholarship, or a professor may nominate them. To be considered for the award, students must submit the following:
Author a 200-word essay about why you want to become an orthotic/prosthetic technician
Obtain a letter of reference from someone currently working within the orthotic and prosthetic profession
Letters of reference should be included with the application.
Obtain an official or unofficial transcript (that includes the current academic semester) from your institution
Official transcripts are not required; however, unofficial transcripts must be signed by your Program Director or Faculty Advisor.
Transcript must include your cumulative O&P Technician Program GPA.
Submission Details
Applicants are responsible for ensuring all materials are received by The O&P Foundation by the due dates posted deadline. Application materials must be received by 5:00pm Central Time on the posted deadline.
