Duffy Felmlee brings extensive experience in prosthetics and orthotics to his role as Professor for the Prosthetics and Orthotics Program at the University of Hartford. He received his Masters of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Hartford in 2010 and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists with Distinction in 2023. Duffy is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Kinesiology at the University of Connecticut. At the University of Hartford, Duffy serves as an orthotic and research instructor, Director of the Adult Balance Lab, Technical Director of the MSPO Lab, Associate Program Director, Chair of the Rehabilitation Sciences Department, and Chair of the Institutional Review Board. His research explores functional rehabilitation for veterans, including submerged swimming prostheses and microprocessor knees to prevent falls. Duffy is deeply involved with global non-profits, having served on teams for Dreaming and Working Together in Peru and the LimbKind Foundation internationally. He also brings leadership experience from the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, including the Board of Directors, Fabrication Sciences Society, Outcome Research Committee, Online Education Committee, and OPiQ Advisory Board. The Academy recognized Duffy as Educator of the Year in 2020. Duffy has served on the O&P Foundation Board for two years and has been involved with the Education committee in various roles, culminating in the Chair position in 2024-2026.
