Emily Steffensen, PhD, CPO
Emily Steffensen, PhD, CPO currently works as a Clinician-Scientist with Hanger Clinic and the Hanger Institute for Clinical Research and Education. She has 10 years of experience in O&P and especially enjoys working alongside other rehabilitation professionals to maximize patient outcomes, as well as engaging with students and residents. Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Physics of Medicine and Molecular Biology from Rockhurst University, her Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Baylor College of Medicine, and her PhD in Biomechanics concentrating in Motor Control from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her research interests include orthotic and prosthetic interventions, gait biomechanics, and rehabilitation of injuries and disorders that affect mobility. Her past research has largely been in post-stroke gait rehabilitation, and currently uses her clinical and research skills to conduct patient-centered research in O&P.
