ABC Match Campaign Concludes, but the Work is Just Beginning.

The Orthotics & Prosthetics Foundation for Education & Research (The O&P Foundation) is proud to announce the conclusion of the ABC Match Campaign, and the results speak to the strength and commitment of our field.

Thanks to the generosity of every individuals, businesses, and organizations across the profession, we successfully raised $1,255,624, including the full match from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC).

From December 1, 2024 to November 30, 2025, the O&P community came together to fuel strategic investment in the evidence, education, and workforce development, all fundamental drivers of patient access to quality care.

Why Continuing Support Is Critical

Although this milestone reflects extraordinary momentum, the need for sustained investment has never been more urgent. O&P is navigating significant national challenges that directly impact patient care and the future of the profession:

Research Funding Cuts

National agencies have reduced medical and rehabilitation research support, making it harder for investigators to secure the grants needed to conduct high-quality, clinical and translational work in O&P.

Rising Tuition Costs

Graduate education in orthotics and prosthetics continues to increase in cost, placing heavier burdens on students and limiting who can afford to enter the profession.

Student Loan Caps & Barriers

New loan limits and strained scholarship resources can push talented candidates away from pursuing O&P careers and reduce the pipeline of future clinicians.

Clinical Attrition & Burnout

Retention pressures at the practitioner level, workload demands, compensation challenges, and personal financial strain, threaten long-term workforce stability.

Growing Workforce Shortages

A shrinking supply of clinicians, care extenders, and researchers jeopardizes timely access to care for patients who rely on prosthetic, orthotic, and pedorthic services.

The Need for Ongoing Professional Development

From evidence-based practice to quality standards and advanced training, professionals must continually grow to ensure safety, equity, and patient centered care delivery.

When the workforce is supported, when evidence is strong, when education is sustainable, and when research is funded — patients receive the mobility, independence, and quality of life they deserve.
