Wurdeman Joins Legacy Leadership Council

The Orthotics & Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research (The O&P Foundation) Welcomes Shane Wurdeman, PhD, CP, FAAOP(D) to the Legacy Leadership Council (LLC).

Dr. Wurdeman is a nationally recognized leader in orthotics and prosthetics whose career reflects a deep and sustained commitment to advancing evidence-based care, clinical excellence, and the long-term strength of the O&P profession. Currently serving as Chief Clinical Officer for Hanger Clinic, Shane began his career as a technician before transitioning into clinical practice, research, and executive leadership.

He has co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts, contributed to multiple book chapters, delivered over 100 conference presentations, and led federally funded research supported by the NIH, Department of Defense, and NIDILRR. He is also a seven-time Thranhardt Lecture Award recipient and a co-founder of The O&P Foundation.

The Legacy Leadership Council is a strategic advisory body composed of former board chairs, executive leaders, and key contributors who provide continuity, institutional knowledge, mentorship, and high-level guidance to The O&P Foundation’s Board of Directors and executive leadership. Council members serve as ambassadors for the O&P Foundation’s mission, offer historical perspective to inform strategic decisions, and support long-term sustainability and impact across education, research, and professional development initiatives.

As a founding visionary of The O&P Foundation and a long-standing leader within the profession, Shane’s voice, insight, and institutional memory will be invaluable as the organization continues to grow its national impact and advance quality, value-driven patient care across orthotics, prosthetics, and pedorthics.

The O&P Foundation looks forward to Shane’s continued engagement, counsel, and partnership as we work together to strengthen the profession and improve outcomes for the individuals and communities we serve.
